Tamara Campeau is an accomplished illustrator celebrated for her whimsical and heartfelt contributions to children’s literature. Her painterly style infuses warmth and emotional depth into the stories she brings to life. She has collaborated with various publishers, such as Inhabit Media, Pajama Press and Hemma.

Among her noteworthy projects are:

• We Love You as Much as the Fox Loves His Tail, a finalist for the 2024 Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award.

• Kits, Cubs, and Calves: An Arctic Summer, shortlisted for the Children’s and 2021-2022 PMC Indigenous Literature Award.

• In the Sky at Night Time, which received a starred review from Kirkus and was featured in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

• Grandfather Bowhead, Tell Me a Story, selected for IBBY Canada’s From Sea to Sea: Celebrating Indigenous Picture Books.

• Hello Dark, published by Pajama Press, shortlisted for the 2022 IODE Jean Throop Book Award.

  • The Secrets of Santa’s Naughty-Nice List, published by Crows Foot Books, First Place in the 2019 Purple Dragonfly Book Award under the Holiday category and received Silver Medal in the Independent Publisher Award for the Holiday category in 2019.

Through her illustrations, Tamara aims to bring joy to families and educational settings, fostering connections reminiscent of her own positive childhood experiences with literature. She draws inspiration from the woodlands surrounding her cozy home and her deep love for animals.

When not illustrating, Tamara can be found relaxing with her senior poodle, Pinut, her two cats, Trixie and Dodger, and her rescue bunny, Oreo. If not with her fur babies, she will be on a farm somewhere cuddling horses, pigs, cats.

Through her dedication to her craft and storytelling, Tamara continues to leave a lasting impression on the world of children’s literature, blending technical skill with heartfelt creativity to inspire readers of all ages.
